After seeing that Carolyn, over at This Talk Ain’t Cheap, was asking if us bloggers were choosing a Word of the Year, I was intrigued & rather quickly decided on MY special word that would be mine for 2013…..
Persistent.
I admit that this was chosen on a whim, I am now quite happy that this word popped into my mind as it certainly does indicate how I hope my attitude is towards life this year. I want to pursue this crazy yet awesome yet sometimes lonely yet often very exciting & rewarding hobby/job of BLOGGING & keeping Along Comes Mary here & in your face (in a good way!). I want to make more exciting opportunities happen. I want to not be afraid of attending school & making a degree happen. I want to wear my heart on my sleeve & keep looking for a significant other (Oy, I cannot believe I am still saying this…). I want to try to travel & get out there more..I have a perfect excuse….I need to BLOG & write great stories, no??;)
And, the only way for all this to occur is via one little word….persistence, my friends!
I must say, “Persistent” has stuck in my head since I was a teenager reading Seventeen Magazine. I read a fun fashion article by a college intern who modeled cute new outfits & reviewed them. It made me wonder how she became an intern at the top teen publication. Being the snail mailer I was back then, I decided to write this girl a letter & imagine my surprise when she answered me! She explained that the opportunity arised from her english professor at a Brooklyn junior college. She said if magazine writing/editing was a passion of mine, “Just be persistent” & chances would come my way, whether it be for magazines or newspapers.
Its exciting to think that a new year is upon us, maybe persistence will apply to something not even in my life yet, I hope for many adventures & annot wait to bring you all along for my ride:)

This is so great, Mary! I think persistence is a great word! I think my word would have to be strength! I need strength to keep the courage to put my life out there on the blog, raise my girls and do what is best for us!
I wish you luck in getting a degree! It’s even harder to do when you have kids so get to it now!

Haven’t really spent time narrowing down on one word but right now the word that comes to mind is resourceful/.. I want…need…to be more resourceful in more areas than one…esp with time!
